5 Tips to Help Balance Hormones

When your hormones are not in balance, you can have some uncomfortable symptoms: fatigue, weight gain, trouble keeping healthy sleep patterns (sleeping long hours with no feeling of rest or not being able to sleep through the night), infertility, problems with your complexion (breaking out, oily skin, dry skin, etc.) and even endometriosis.

1. Limit Your Caffeine Intake

I cried when I read that too much caffeine can mess with your endocrine system (your endocrine gland make hormones for your body). If you’re a workaholic or if you just like your coffee and you notice any of the symptoms listed above, it’s time to tone it down a notch.

2. Sleep

Believe it or not, your sleep cycle messes with your hormones as well. Make sure to get a good night sleep every night. If you have to have a few late nights at work, try to sleep in a little during the weekend.

3. Exercising Too Much

Yeah, you read that right. If you already have a hormone imbalance, intense cardio exercise can make it worse. So if you notice that your hormone levels are off, try to take it easy. Instead of having an intense cardio workout try walking, swimming, or yoga.

4. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is great for hormone production. There are extra benefits to it as well, like weight loss and inflammation reduction.

5. Lifting Weights

Cardio can make it worse but lifting weights can actually help. So head over to the gym and do about 5 short sets of lifting: at a weight that really challenges you. Don’t forget your spotter!
